Representatives of the African diaspora and civil society in Europe gathered on May 26 in Brussels to celebrate Africa Day 2023, which coincides with the sixty years of existence of the Organization of African Unity ( OAU) which is now the African Union (AU).
ADEPT was represented by its Vice-President, Karen Kaneza.

For Karen Kaneza, ” The African diaspora has a rich history. It is made up of people who want to share their culture and know-how on the African continent and in Europe. It is therefore quite natural that we are here to represent it and make it shine beyond the work that Adept is already doing.”This event was organized by the Permanent Mission of the African Union to the European Union and the African Group of Ambassadors in Brussels, in order to bring together the diaspora of the 54 countries of the AU during a gala reception-dinner with recreational cultural activities (Burundian Drums, African dishes, music, fashion show, exhibition).

The ceremony was officially opened by Mr. Amb Awad Sakine Ahmat, Permanent Representative of the African Union to the European Union and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
