ADEPT/IOM August Webinar: Diaspora Skills/Knowledge Transfer

Thursday 31 August 2017  – 03:30 PM to 05:30 PM BST

ADEPT’s August webinar in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will take place on Thursday 31 August 2017 from 03:30 to 05:30 PM British Summer Time / 16.30-18.30 CEST.

Many parts of the African continent are currently affected by a shortage of qualified human resources. Large-scale departures of executives and university graduates have contributed to this shortage. Thousands of African professionals such as medical doctors, nurses, accountants, engineers, managers, teachers, etc. leave the continent each year for various reasons.

ADEPT/IOM webinar will be looking into how mobilising skills, knowledge, and competencies acquired by African nationals abroad can mitigate the negative effects of brain drain and empower communities for the benefit of Africa’s development.

The discussion will focus on best practices around diaspora skills/knowledge transfer and how to improve the process and impact in Africa.

Speakers:

Abubakarr Bangura, CEO at Migration and Development Consultancy

Frances Mensah Williams, Founder of Interims for Development and Managing Editor at ReConnect Africa

Adri Zagers, Head of Migration and Development unit IOM Netherlands
