ADEPT at the International Day for People of African Descent

From 31th August until 4th September, ADEPT’s president, Alexis Neuberg, is taking part in the celebration of the « International Day for People of African Descent » taking place in Costa Rica. The event aims at reaffirming the commitment to people of African descent for their recognition, justice and development.

On Tuesday 2nd September, Alexis Neuberg, will participate in the “Civil Society Forum”. This forum will provide an interactive framework among diverse civil society actors to advance the agenda of the rights of people of African descent, within the framework of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development, the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action, the San Jos Commitments (2019), the Nairobi Summit Commitments, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the International Decade for People of African Descent.

ADEPT’s president will also submit an official letter to the Vice President of Costa Rica, Ms. Epsy Campbell Barr, in which he proposes:

– The Creation of the Diaspora Grant Fund with a concrete initial objective, which is the fight against poverty and exclusion;

– A strategic cooperation partnership with the Government of Costa Rica and FAO.
