ADEPT at the Diaspora Development Conference in Dublin

On May 25, ADEPT participated in the Diaspora Diplomacy and Development Conference in Dublin, Ireland.

The conference was organised by the Clinton Institute at University College Dublin from 24 – 26 May 2018 and was open by Ireland’s Minister for the Diaspora and International Development, Ciaran Cannon, TD. The conference brought together government and NGO actors, academic scholars, corporate representatives, and a diverse range of diaspora agents to address global examples of the intersections of diaspora, diplomacy and global development.

The key topics for discussion included: diaspora engagement,  investment and entrepreneurship of the diaspora, digital diasporas, conflict, crisis and humanitarianism, development and civil society, Ireland’s diaspora engagement, diaspora diplomacy, diaspora and development, diaspora innovation and leadership and many more.

During the conference, ADEPT member, Shabaka Social Enterprise made a presentation on Diaspora and Development that focused on children of migrants as transnational humanitarian and development actors – challenges and opportunities.
