On 3-4 September 2018, ADEPT participated in the GFMD Preparatory Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. Mrs Khady Sakho Niang, the ADEPT’s President and Mrs Kékéli Kpognon, the ADEPT’s Acting Executive Director, attended the discussions aimed to :
• Promote a collective understanding of the implications, challenges and opportunities for the GFMD of the final GCM draft released on 11 July 2018
• Harness GFMD’s multi-stakeholder space and innovative approaches to support the Member States in the implementation, follow up and review of the GCM commitments
• Discuss how GFMD could foster institutional and thematic linkages with the proposed UN network on migration to be coordinated by IOM
On the basis of the outcomes of the discussions, a concept note will be developed, shared and discussed during the Migration Week in Marrakesh in December 2018.
