Global Forum on Remittances, Investment, and Development (GFRID) organises this year’s summit on the 14-16 of June. Promoted by the United Nations as a platform to engage all sectors, GFRID 2023 will explore opportunities and challenges in the post-pandemic landscape, with a major focus on main remittance corridors and diaspora investment innovations in Africa.

As for every summit, the GFRID Summit 2023 will facilitate networking among sectors, as well as the exchange of best practices and the creation of synergies towards joint, innovative initiatives aimed at unleashing the power of remittances and diaspora investment towards sustainable development. Thus, the event plays a key role in highlighting the increasing importance of remittances and diaspora investment for migrants and their families, and to discuss opportunities and challenges to leverage the impact of these flows towards sustainable development.

This event is organised by IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development), the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser for Africa (UN OSAA) and the World Bank and will take place at the United Nations Office Nairobi.

On day three of the summit, 16 June, the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) will be observed to raise awareness of the crucial contribution of migrants to the wellbeing of their families back home.
